TFS 2008 Installation

Does anyone have good detailed installation instructions for TFS2008? I've
tried installing this multiple times using the provided MS documentation yet
keep winding up with failed installations. I've tried every combo of Win2k8
32-bit with SQL 2005/2008, single server, multi-server, yet nothing seems to
come together.

Sadly, the best thing out there, even to date, is the TFS Installation Guide
that comes with the product. The key is that you need to read it through a
couple of times, organize it a bit (it's very poorly organized as a How-To
guide), and then follow the documented steps *exactly* and if anything -- I
mean anything -- doesn't match up to the instructions... Stop, Back-Up a
step, and make it perfectly correct before proceeding.

I'll suggest that your first challenge is Win2008/IIS7, and the second,
SQL2008.

The product was designed for use on Win2003/IIS6/WSS3 and SQL Server 2005. I
would suggest for training purposes, and familiarity with the installation
process -- that you install it on the platforms it was originally designed
(and documented) to be installed on.

Once you get a successful installation on Win2003/IIS6/SQL2005, then you can
consider the alternative considerations related to WIn2008/IIS7 and
SQL2008 -- and there are several!
